The 2006 Mt. Pleasant High School graduate holds the state record of 179 career wins in high school.

Ament won the state wrestling championship in his weight class as a junior and took third place in the state during his sophomore and senior years.

"I've been wrestling ever since first grade," said Ament, 18, the son of Annamarie and Don Ament of Acme."It's a passion for me."

He was a three-year captain of the wrestling team and also played football as a sophomore and junior.

Ament was a winner of the 2006 Judge John J. Driscoll Scholar-Athlete award and a 2006 WPIAL Scholar Athlete award winner.

In addition to wrestling, the teen was involved in the school's Interact Club and with student council in his junior and senior years. He served as president of the junior class and was also a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions and the National Honor Society.

Ament was selected as the December 2005 Student of the Month by the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.

His volunteer work included collecting toys for the school's annual Toys for Tots program and at school-sponsored blood drives.

While at Lock Haven, Ament will study secondary education with a minor in business management. Wrestling is also in his future plans.

"Once I get a teaching job, I'd like to coach wrestling at a high school," he said.

This summer he is working at the Black Dog Pub in Donegal and at L & B Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
