Franks awarded Freedom Scholarship
Sara M. Franks will be a freshman at Northwood University in the fall. She is the recipient of the Freedom Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. The scholarship is $7,500 per year with renewal options yearly if criteria are met. The Freedom Scholarship is awarded to a student who has exhibited academic excellence during their high school years.

Franks will graduate from Ovid-Elsie High School this spring and will work toward a business degree from Northwood University. She is the daughter of Mark and Holly Franks of Ovid.

WMU names graduates

Western Michigan University has announced the following students who graduted in December 2006:

Shane L. Thelen, of Fowler, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.

Emily T. Baynes, of Laingsburg, received a Master of Arts in family and consumer sciences.

Stacie A. Hoops, of Laingsburg, received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary group minors.

Anne M. Phillipson, of Ovid, received a Bachelor of Science degree in family studies.

James J. Hnetynka, of Perrinton, received a Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing engineering technology.

Breanna J. Bailey, of St. Johns, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

Nicholas K. Poff, of St. Johns, received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.

Abby R. Rossow, of St. Johns, received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management.

Alma College

The following students graduated from Alma College following the winter 2007 semester:

Cassandra Goodrich, a graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communication.

Loren Hunt, also a graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics.

Northwood University

The following students have been named to the Dean's List for the winter term at Northwood University. To achieve Dean's List recognition, students must earn a 3.25 grade point on a 4.0 scale: Caleb Miller of Elsie, Stacey Devereaux of St. Johns, and Lindsey Martin of Westphalia.

Cody Stoddard

Cody Stoddard of St. Johns has been named to the President's List for the winter term at Northwood University. To achieve President's List recognition, students must earn a 3.85 grade point on a 4.0 scale.
