here is no denying the fact that the just-concluded Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant could not have the thundering success it was without the concerted efforts of patriotic Gambians and development-oriented corporate institutions in the country.

One among the bevy of institutions that contributed gigantically towards the success of the historic event was New Look Salon under the stewardship of Madam Femi Al-Ahmar.

New Look Salon was very instrumental in adding extra touch and décor to the outlook of the contestants.

With its star-studded team working side by side with other hair stylists from America, they did the hair styles and make-ups for the contestants all for free of charge.

In fact the sea of heads that converged at Senegambia on the eve of the final were taken by storm when contestants came out elegantly with eye-catching shoes, skirts, tops and big head hair crown made from human hairs. These products which were seen as unprecedented in the word of fashion were crafted by New Look Salon.

Speaking to senior journalist Alhagie Mbye short after the successful hosting of the mega event, the proprietress of New Look Salon Mrs Femi Al Ahmar said that she was profoundly happy to contribute in her quota towards the successful hosting of the 2007 Miss Black USA Pageant.

Buttressing her role in the event the New Look boss said: "I was asked by the Americans to be part of the production team for the Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant. My contributions include:" advise on the creative visibility of the contestants. I selected about ten typically African looking models and in collaboration with the US-based Traviswinky studio to showcase the Gambian wares.

"Their outfits were conceptualized, designed and created by New Look Salon.

"I was also part of the backstage team getting the contestants ready for the cat walk."

According to her she felt very happy to be associated with the event, noting: "I ‘m seeing my role in the event as my own contribution towards the development of the industry and I’m thanking all those who participated in it and those who supported me particularly my lovely husband Mr Muhamed Al-Alhmar the CEO of the Al Ahmar Group. He has been all along beside me.

"I wish to also pat Gambia government under the visionary leadership of Dr Alhaji Yahya AJJ Jammeh on the back for the successful hosting of the programme".

Madam Al Ahmar was so impressed with the level of public appreciation of her team work and promised to deliver more. She added that some American hair stylists were profoundly impressed with the excellent work of her team and they asked her to do with them a fashion show in America in the near future .

"The head of the production team Dawn Most was so amazed and happy with our work and I think this was a big honour."

Meanwhile, the CEO of Beakon Interactive, which is part of the chain of the Al Ahmar Group. Abdul Salam Secka in collaboration with LG provided five flate screens for audience to have a closer view of the stage at the just concluded Miss Black USA.
