The Experimental Aircraft Association, Antique Classic Division, Northeast Chapter 15, announced a June 30 deadline for scholarship applications for 2007-08.
The chapter awards one financial scholarship each year to a regional high school student continuing education in aviation. This can include two- or four-year programs in aeronautics, engineering, maintenance or flying. The award is not need-based but recipients must demonstrate serious intent through current fields of study and/or related volunteer or extracurricular activities such as internships, club memberships, RC models, Air Explorers, Civil Air Patrol, etc.
The scholarship fund originated with the Yesterdays Wings Aero Museum of North Hampton, which transferred the program to Chapter 15, but the purpose remains the same: To promote and encourage young people who plan to pursue a career in aviation. Value of the award is $500 and is presented each summer at one of the Hampton Airfield public events. Last year's scholarship was awarded to Timothy James Fournier from Rumford, Maine. He graduated from Mountain Valley High School and is attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz.
To qualify, applicants must be high school seniors from the New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. Students must be accepted at a two-year, four-year, or technical school, and pursue aviation-related studies. A copy of the school acceptance letter should accompany the application. A cover letter of intent must also accompany the application, stating the candidate's goals and why they should receive the award. All candidates must submit three letters of recommendation. Any experience or volunteer activities in the area of aviation should be noted. The scholarship will be awarded July 14.Labels: academy awards, career training, education online, financial aid, free college, free education, scholarship, study abroad |
